years of history 1696-1996
In conjunction with the Prince George's County Arts Council's Arts in Education Program, CICC will be working in the Prince George's County school system. CICC will also participate in the official Prince George's County Tricentennial Parade in Upper Marlboro, with the theme "Faces of Places".
Faces of Places will portray the mix that is embodied in the many cultures of Prince George's County. A picture is worth a thousand words, so the display colorful carnival costumes will tell the story of the customs and rituals of thousands of Caribbean people who have settled in Prince George's County.
The CICC will also host a Tricentennial Costume Ball on February 17, 1996, at the Ramada Hotel in New Carrollton. The event will embody the spirit of African-American Mardi Gras and Caribbean Carnival. Door prizes & costume prizes will be awarded along with dinner and a cash bar. The cost of a ticket is $25.00 in advance and $30.00 at the door.
