SUMMARY:Prince of a County
DESCRIPTION:The Prince George’s County Historical Society’s Annual Fundraiser at Patuxent Farm in Upper Marlbro\, Well’s Corner. \n  \nSeptember 18\, 2016 1-4 \n  \nPatuxent Elementary School has evolved from a one-room schoolhouse to a beautiful and commodious residence in rural Upper Marlboro.  The school house was built in 1905 after a donation of one-acre of land by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Hall.  It had large windows to admit good light and served the farm families along what is now Old Crain Highway and Old Marlboro Pike.  When the new Marlboro High School opened in Upper Marlboro (ca. 1931)\, May Bowling Hall purchased the school and land and conveyed it to her son\, Robert Lee Hall and his wife Josephine.  They converted the schoolhouse to their home by adding a bedroom\, bathroom\, dining room and kitchen.  Eventually they added a second floor with additional bedrooms\, bathroom and sitting room.  The Halls incorporated a sweeping staircase\, and later a larger dining room and Florida Room.  In 1992\, the Roberts family bought the property and made several changes including adding a porch and converting a garage to an office. \n$50.00 per person RSVP September 10\, 2016\n($25.00 tax deductible) Information: 301-440-8404 \n  \nRSVP address \nplease send check to: \nPrince George’s County Historical Society\nPO Box 1513\nUpper Marlboro\, MD 20773-1513 \n  \nemail for more information: ipetrus1 “at” verizon.net \n  \n
