Prince George's County
Celebrates 300
years of history 1696-1996
Charles Benedict Calvert established the Maryland Agricultural College on 420 acres of land surrounding the Rossborough Inn, the northern portion of his Riverdale plantation. He also personally supervised the renovation and construction of the eight buildings of which the campus was comprised at its opening, the inn and its surrounding barns, homes for the college's president and the most distinguished faculty member, and the "Barracks" or main building.
