1731 Land Patent
1731 Land Patent

This land patent, dated November 5, 1731, grants 5000 acres of land in Prince George's County to John Covill for an annual rent of ten pounds. It is signed by Benedict Leonard Calvert, Governor of Maryland and the younger brother of Charles Calvert, fifth Baron of Baltimore. From the Maryland Manuscripts collection, # 3970.

Currently on display with the 300 Candles: Slices of Prince George's County exhibit in the Maryland Room, 3rd floor, McKeldin Library at the University of Maryland at College Park.
