Please join the Prince George’s County Historical Society for its March 28, 2022, Zoom History Chat with Rico Newman.  He will have a conversation with John Peter Thompson about the First Peoples, the Piscataway-Conoy, and life before the Europeans arrived, after colonization, and now.  Zoom registration information is below.
Rico Newman retired from the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in 2009.  He served on the Maryland Commission on Indian Affairs, 2002 – 2009, as a Cultural Information Specialist.  Presently he serves on the Accokeek Foundation Board and with a task force of University of Maryland professors and tribal members to develop a native minor degree curriculum.  He also advocates for demographics on native students in Maryland schools to better their post-graduation opportunities in colleges and universities.
