“THE USDA PLANT INTRODUCTION STATION IN GLENN DALE”

A lecture presented by Marietta House Museum & Prince George’s County Historical Society

 

Please join Dr. Howard Waterworth on Tuesday, March 8th at 7:30pm. at Marietta House Museum for a discussion and presentation of the ‘USDA Plant Introduction Station in Glenn Dale, MD”.  Many local residents pass the plant area every day and wonder, “what is this place?” Now is your unique opportunity to find out!

 

Dr. Waterworth spent 36 years at the USDA station beginning in 1964.  He will give a slide presentation as well as discussion and Q & A.  His talk will include information about plants being brought into the United States from other countries and their quarantine upon arrival at the Plant Introduction as well as Quarantine Center in Glenn Dale.

 

Dr. Waterworth received his doctorate in Horticulture/Plant Pathology from the University of Wisconsin.  He is the author of Plant Science articles in professional journals and is a member of the Master Gardeners of Prince Georges’ County.

 

                   $5 per person.  Proceeds support Marietta’s programs and events.
